NATIVE WISTERIA-PURPLE

This native climber is quite vigorous and will
grow very tall if given good support.
It does not loose its leaves in winter.
The leaves themselves grow in pairs and the
surface is an attractive, glossy,dark green on
the surface and a lovely pale green underneath.

The flowers of this plant are produced in spring
and early summer. They have attractive white
pea-like flowers white are produced in huge
quantities on the end of the branches.

After flowering the plant produces large
velvet-like pods which contain the seeds.

Propagation:
Scarify the seeds then soak them in water for
12- 24 hours.
Plant 1cm deep in native seed raising mixture
and germinate at 20-22C.
Prick out when four true leaves have developed
and pot into 70mm pots.
Transplant in spring when 30-40cm tall.

The Hardenbergia comptoniana is an australian native. It is an evergreen medium climber or dense groundcover that is covered in masses of purple pea shaped flowers in spring. It like a moist, well drained position in full sun or filtered sun. It is very useful for quickly covering wire fences, pots or bare ground. Councils and other public gardens use this plant due to its hardiness and high tolerance to different situations.
